I have really enjoyed this session and have even shared the information with workmates and family. I was amazed at how easy it is to edit a wiki. I was a little concerned about the quality of information if anyone can edit it.
I enjoyed looking through the example wikis and got some great ideas eg. the use of a 'latest news' section on the Wisconsin wiki, the 'special exhibitions and up coming events' panels in the Mint site and I especially like the Wookieepedia where common minded people can share information on a topic of common interest.
I can see wikis being used extensively in the library, from communicating with other branches to customer participation thru bookclubs and collection requests. I think that patrons will appreciate the opportunity to post questions, ideas and share information. It's like an encyclopedia at your fingertips that is being continually updated.
